Introduction
These organizations all focus on some aspect of immigration. Most (but not all) are advocates for immigrants and present information to support these populations.
Why would we use these sources?
- Can find the level of information as the Government resources, but these organizations tend to present information that will support the communities they work for.
- Depending on the level of organization, you may find more stories from individuals with similar background as the people in your cases.
Questions to ask yourself:
- What is the organization's purpose?
- How would this influence the information they present?
- Who works for the organization?
- Where is the organization's headquarters?
Immigration Aid Organizations
- American Civic AssociationThe American Civic Association is a nonprofit organization that is committed to helping immigrants and refugees start a new life in our community while preserving their ethnic and cultural diversity.
- Community Refugee & Immigration ServicesCommunity Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS) is an independent non-profit organization that serves the refugee and immigrant populations in Central Ohio. Our wide array of programs and services aim to facilitate sustained self-sufficiency and successful integration for the people we serve.
- Immigration Advocates Network (Ohio)Listing of various organizations offering legal aid for immigrants throughout Ohio.
Research Organizations
- Human Rights WatchHuman Rights Watch investigates and reports on abuses happening in all corners of the world. We direct our advocacy towards governments, armed groups and businesses, pushing them to change or enforce their laws, policies and practices. We partner with organizations large and small across the globe to protect embattled activists and to help hold abusers to account and bring justice to victims.
