As we begin the fall semester, we have some important updates about what to expect over the next few months with our new library system and services.
Our library staff has created a new guide to help you navigate the system changes. This guide includes screenshots for core tasks like searching, requesting, and accessing your library account. It also features a section with faculty-focused information and a general FAQ for all users. We will continue to add more "how-to" content and information as it becomes available.
For real-time updates, please visit our library blog or check the OWU Daily.
The default search is for everything available at OWU. We've added new search options in the main search box that allow you to limit your results to specific collections, such as:
You’ll also notice that we can now highlight and link to our Digital Collections right from the main search page under "Key Resources."
Please Note: The Special Collections search doesn't include everything in the collection. Some items are still being inventoried or aren't yet cataloged. If you are looking for something specific, please contact our Special Collections librarian for assistance.
This new system is more communicative than our old one. We're currently monitoring and adjusting the notifications that patrons receive. If you get a message you think is in error or have general feedback about these notifications, please share your thoughts via our Feedback Form.
For those of you who used the Search Ohio and Pickup Anywhere features in the old system, please know that they will be making a comeback this fall. They are not currently available, but we'll be sure to provide an update as soon as they are officially back online.
There is a known issue for anyone who checked out materials before the system transition: these items may appear in your account as "requests" instead of "loans," and a due date won't be listed. OhioLINK is working with the vendor to fix this. In the meantime, you are welcome to keep these materials, and we will work with you on getting them returned or replaced once a due date has been established.
In addition to our OWUSearch guide, our staff is available to provide demos and answer any questions you have about using the new system. We will continue to provide updates via our website, OWU Daily, Provost emails, and more.
