Subject terms also called controlled vocabulary, are specific words that have been assigned by a database to describe each book or article within. Since subject terms reflect the main focus of the book or article, searching by subject terms may be a quick way to narrow your results to a particular topic. The subject terms below are linked to a broad search for that specific term in all of the Ebscohost databases. This will likely be too broad to use on its own. You can add to these initial searches with additional keywords or subject terms. If you need to limit your search even further, use the facets on the left of the search results.
Coming up with the right keywords is crucial for finding useful articles. Unfortunately, the language you use to describe your topic is not always how an author will refer to the same subject. Use this Padlet as a way to work with your classmates on coming up with keywords related to different topics. These words can be synonyms, narrower terms, broader terms, or simply related terms.
