novel coronavirus 

This is the type of virus that has caused diseases like SARS, COVID-19, and the common cold.

"Novel" means this particular coronavirus is a newly identified one.

SARS-CoV-2

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2.

This is the name of the specific virus that causes COVID-19. 

COVID-19

Coronavirus disease 2019.

This is the name of the disease caused by the virus. 
pandemic

An epidemic of infectious disease across continents.
