Microfilm/Microfiche Readers at Beeghly

Beeghly Library has a microfilm (images of documents/publications on rolls of film) machine on the ground floor, with the periodicals, and a microfiche (images of documents/publications on small sheets of film) reader.

The microfilm viewer is attached to a PC with software that allows you to advance the film reel, scan, and save or email the image. 

There is no fee for microform scanning.

Saving Images to the Desktop

  1. Scan image
  2. Click on File > Save
  3. Click Save
  4. Name image
  5. Click Save

To Save portion of a page

  1. Scan entire page
  2. Left click to highlight desired area, drawing a box that will turn blue
  3. Right click highlighted off area to Save Image As. Name image.
  4. Click Save. Saved image is a .bmp file. Default will save image to My Documents unless you choose otherwise.

Email Images Scans

  1. First scan image and save to desktop
  2. Then minimize screen image
  3. Select gmail icon from destop​
  4. Enter username and password
  5. Compose an email
  6. Attach scanned file(s) from desktop
  7. Send
