Popular & Leisure Materials at the OWU Libraries

How to find books, movies, and music for leisure reading and fun!

All CONSORT Libraries: Searching the collections of Denison, Kenyon, Wooster, and OWU

Couldn't find what you want in the OWU Libraries? Or what you want is already checked out? You're not out of luck, because you have easy access to three other libraries with just a few clicks of the mouse.

From the main search screen of CONSORT, use the dropdown menu on the right to select the "All Libraries" option to search all four libraries' collections, as shown above. If you find what you want, click on the item and use the "Request" button at the top of the screen to request that the item be sent to OWU for you (have your student ID handy so you can login).  There's no cost to you, and the item you requested will be sent to OWU's Beeghly Library

We will notify you when the requested item is available, and you can pick it up at the Beeghly circulation desk (the long wooden desk across from the front doors). You will still use your OWU ID to check out the materials, and return the items to Beeghy when you're done with them.

Of course, if you do not return the item when it's due, you'll have to pay overdue fines. (To find out more about borrowing limits and loan periods for materials from other CONSORT libraries, please see our page on borrowing from the library.)

OhioLink: Searching the collections of Ohio's college and university libraries

If CONSORT doesn't have what you want, why not add over 75 more library collections to your search? That's just what OhioLink can do for you!

There are two ways to get to OhioLink. If you've already started a search in the CONSORT library catalog, you can follow the directions below. Or you can start over by going directly to OhioLink at http://olc1.ohiolink.edu/search/.

If you've already started your search in the CONSORT library catalog, the easiest way to connect to OhioLink is to use the buttons on the CONSORT screen.  This red button might appear in one of two places:

1) If there were no items found that match your search, it will be just above the search boxes

2) Or, if there were results found, but we still didn't have exactly what you want (or everything was checked out), it will be at the top of the screen, above the search box

Either way, this button will take you directly to the OhioLink catalog, and even fill in your search data for you!

If you get a list of more than one result in OhioLink, look for the correct item in the format you want. (For example, some items might be available as books, movies, soundtracks, e-books, large print books, audiobooks, and etc.)  Once you've found your title in the correct format, click on the link, and use the "Request" button to request the item, choosing Ohio Wesleyan University as your school/institution and using your OWU ID barcode information to complete the request.

Before requesting the item, you may also want to check the holding information to see if the item you want is available for check-out. Newly popular titles are often unavailable because either all copies are already checked out, or the library that owns the item has marked it as "local use" or "local circ" only, which means they won't send it to you here at OWU. Don't worry if you can't find any available copies for your title, though, as we still have one more place to look for it: SearchOhio!

SearchOhio: Searching the collections of Ohio's public libraries and affiliated universities

If OhioLink doesn't have what you need, you can use the SearchOhio button to search the collections of Ohio's public libraries. Or go directly to SearchOhio at http://ohpir.westervillelibrary.org/.

If you get a list of more than one result in SearchOhio, look for the correct item in the format you want. (For example, some items might be available as books, movies, soundtracks, e-books, large print books, audiobooks, and etc.) Once you've found your title in the correct format, click on the link, and use the "Request Item" button to request the item, selecting Ohio Wesleyan University as the library with which you're affiliated, and using your OWU ID barcode information to complete the request.

Before requesting the item, you may also want to check the holding information to see if the item you want is available for check-out. Newly popular titles are often unavailable because either all copies are already checked out, or the library that owns the item has marked it as "not requestable," which means they won't send it to you here at OWU.

We will notify you when the requested item is available, and you can pick it up at the Beeghly circulation desk (the long wooden desk across from the front doors). You will still use your OWU ID to check out the materials, and return the items to Beeghly when you're done with them.

Of course, if you do not return the item when it's due, you'll have to pay overdue fines. (To find out more about borrowing limits and loan periods for materials from other CONSORT libraries, please see our page on borrowing from the library.)
