to the Chemistry department.
- ECDIN
- Environmental Chemicals Data and Information Network:
ECDIN was created by the Joint Research Centre of the Commission of
European Communities. It is designed as an instrument to enable people
engaged in environmental management and research to obtain reliable
information on chemical products. Its aim is to bring together a wide
variety of data on chemicals which are being produced by human activity
in such amounts as to be actually or potentially of environmental significance.
- EnviroLink
- Community - Ecology - Connection: a holistic site dealing
with issues of the environment. It has a very good search engine and
also covers current EnviroNews. This site may prove very useful for
some environmental topics.
- Environment
- The Argus Clearinghouse: identifies, describes, evaluates
and provides access to internet-based subject guides. The guides are
organized by subject. The Environment guide is fairly broad and may
prove useful for student of Environmental Chemistry.
- Enviro-Net
- Digital Resources for the Environment Professionals:
links to environmental industry news stories, federal, state, local/regional,
and international regulatory resources as well as technical information
and an archive of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets)
- EPA
Toxic Substances List: compiled by the US Environmental
Protection Agency which gives a hazards summary and workplace exposure
limits for toxic substances.
- EXTOXNET
- The EXtension TOXicology NETwork: a source of objective,
science-based information about pesticides. The information has been
compiled by toxicologists and chemists from the Extension Services of
University of California at Davis, Oregon State University, Michigan
State University, and Cornell University.
- US
Environmental Protection Agency: an incredibly rich source
of information. All of the public information put out by the EPA may
be searched for on this server. In addition to the main server, the
EPA maintains 11 other databases, each of which can be searched from
this site. Of these eleven, two deserve note: the Envirofacts Database
and the Emviro$en$e Web Server. Federal Register notices pertaining
to the environment may also be searched from this site.
- Yahoo!
- Science: Chemistry
Yahoo! - Science: Ecology:
The Yahoo Search Engine gives good coverage to chemistry and ecology
sites that may be of use to students of Environmental Chemistry.
