Research Help

Your librarians are prepared to help you with every step of the research process from picking a paper topic to finding resources to assisting with source citations.

The Beeghly Reference Desk

The reference desk at Beeghly is located on the main floor in front of the Information Commons. Staffed by librarians and a few specially trained reference students, it's a great option if you don't have time to make a formal appointment with a librarian. We have set reference hours and librarians have set shifts, though any librarian working at the desk should be able to get you started on your assignment.

Remember, it is our job to help you - so don't hesitate to ask a question or several!

Music and Science Libraries

The Music and Science libraries have help (or service) desks, staffed mainly by specially trained students. Stop by these desks to see if the music or science librarian is in, or you can contact them directly:

Music Library: Pete Szabo - 740-368-3709
Science Library: Deb Peoples - 740-368-3241

One-On-Ones

Though we don't hold official office hours like faculty, we do set up one-on-one appointments for those who'd like more individualized attention and less risk of interruption when asking for help. Appointments are held in the librarians' offices and can be set up by contacting the librarian you'd like to work with directly by phone or email.

Not sure who you need to work with? Check our list of librarians.

After Hours Help

Though we try to make ourselves available as many hours as possible, sometimes even we need to take a break. But don't worry; we have some sources to keep you going until we return.

KnowItKnow Academic:

KnowItNow Academic is a chat service where students can get live help from an Ohio librarian. The service is offered from 7am to 1am, seven days a week.

LibGuides:

These guides have been created by the OWU librarians for a specific class (ENG 105) or general subject area (Politics and Government)
